7th June 1928 a middle class family of Dera Ismail
Khan (now in Pakistan) celebrated the birth of a son fondly named
Premnath by
the doting parents, he indeed proved to be a beacon of love –
spreading cheer and joy amongst all he came in contact with. After
his early days in Karachi and then Delhi,
Premji came to Bombay with dreams and enthusiasm
from a tryst with destiny in the film world …. And what a
tryst it proved to be!
Rightly has it been said that greatest success comes only to those
who do not confine their thinking to a definite mould and Premji
believed in thinking beyond boundaries. He was a mind – probing,
restless and taking nothing for granted, a mind that refused to
acquiesce to anything shoddy that insisted on bettering even the
best. This resulted in his carving an unparalleled niche for himself
in the world of Indian Cinema.
Having started his film career as a production controller with the
veteran film maker Bimal Roy, his cherished moment came with his
baby “Suchitra Films”
producing Mera Saaya the super hit which had the nation swinging
to “Jhumka Gira Re” and “Mera Saaya Saath Ho Go”
. Chiraag, Dushman, Dost, Mastaana, Majboor, Imaan Dharam, Meera,
Jawab, Aurat Aurat Aurat, that followed all mirrored his deep concern
for the social issues.
Today, he is not with us but the seeds he had sown have grown into
monuments of achievement. Always being a guiding light – unwavering
and reassuring he gave those around him hope, strength, and ability
to chart their way on the ocean of life. “Suchitra
Films” charted its course on firm foundations.
It’s the values, a passion for quality and the spirit of excellence
that brought Suchitra this far.
Spurred on by our past successes and a desire for new challenges,
we are heading for new horizons. This web site
www.suchitrraarts.com is a humble attempt on
our part to pay homage to his august presence in the proud legacy
he has left for us, which we endeavour to emulate, bringing it closer
to his aspirations.
The
music of your memory
The symphony of your dreams
The song of your actions
Is our anthem – our anchor
