Arun Kumar Samadder (1948-2018)

Born in the year 1948, Arun obtained his Diploma in Visual Art from Rabindra Bharati University Kolkata in 1979-80.

Since 1975 he has participated in various group exhibitions held in Kolkata, N Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore including the Lalitkala State Exhibition in Orissa.

His first solo exhibition was in 1984,followed by other exhibitions in 1988 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata.

In the year 2003,another solo exhibition was held in the Art Walk, Oberoi Tower, Mumbai, and thereafter at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata in 2006 to 2008.& 2010, Chemould art Gallery Kolkata 2009, Bajaj Art Gallery, Mumbai 2002.

A joint exhibition of his work was held at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai in 1996 & 2003 & at Bajaj Art Gallery, Mumbai in 2000,again at Mumbai Art Gallery in 2006. Academy of Fine Arts, 2008, I F A C. Artist centre, Mumbai 2009.

He has also participated in various group exhibitions in Mumbai, Nehru Center Art Gallery 2000 & 2006, Art Land-Mumbai in 2001, 2003,Green Strokes Art Gallery, Thane. Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata in1998, 2004 & 2005, Birla Academy of Art & Culture Kolkata in 1998, Lokayat Art Gallery in 2005, Lalitkala Academy New Delhi in 2003, Nitai-Goura Art Gallery, Thane in 2007, Participating contemporary artists invited exhibition at Indonesia & Dubai 2007 & 2008, I.T.C Sonar Kolkata 2009, Kala Mela, N. Delhi 2009 & participated various Art camp in Kolkata, Mumbai, with INFAC in Bangkok, Singapore.

Many of his paintings figure in the art collections of dignitaries like Mr. Kamal Nath former Minister Govt. of India. Mr. Promod Noleker former Minister (Art & Culture ) Govt. of Maharastra. Mr. Pritish Nandi (M.P ).Mrs. Aparna Agarwal (Mid-Day, Mumbai), Dabur India (P) Ltd. State Bank of India as well as ONGC . Birla Archaeological Museum & Research Inst. Hydrabad. & I T C. Sonar Kolkata.

His works have also been bought by many corporate houses in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, U.S.A., Germany, U.K., Holland, Singapore, Hong Kong & Bangladesh, Dubai.
